How to Request a Cancellation

Call us at 919-341-0606 or email ayou@youinsuranceagency.com with your name, policy number, and the date you’d like the cancellation to take effect. Note that for some policies, North Carolina carriers require a signed cancellation request — we’ll send you the form, you sign it, and we handle the rest with the carrier.

Before You Cancel — Let Us Re-Shop Your Rate

If price is the reason you’re leaving, give us one phone call first. As an independent agency we can move your coverage to a different carrier without you lifting a finger — and most of the time that solves the problem the cancellation was meant to fix. If you’re switching because you sold the car or the house, congratulations — we’ll time the cancellation to your closing date so you’re covered to the last minute.

A Few Things to Know

  • Avoid lapses — make sure replacement coverage starts before the old policy ends; even a one-day auto lapse can raise future rates and risks a DMV penalty.
  • Unused premium — if you’ve paid ahead, the carrier refunds the unearned portion after cancellation processes.
  • Lienholders and lenders — financed cars and mortgaged homes require active coverage; we’ll coordinate so nothing bounces back on you.
